Collection: ISLAMIC ALWAH

Islamic wood engraving typically features elaborate geometric patterns and intricate designs that are inspired by the Islamic principle of aniconism, which prohibits the depiction of living beings. These patterns often include arabesques, which are intricate designs of scrolling and interlacing geometric shapes, and tessellations, which are repeated geometric shapes that fit together without gaps or overlaps.

Calligraphy, or the artistic writing of Arabic script, is also a common element in Islamic wood engraving. Verses from the Quran, which is the Islamic holy book, or other religious texts are often beautifully rendered in calligraphy and engraved onto wood, creating visually stunning and spiritually significant works of art.
